Strange as it may seem, there surely must be some higher power at work here. Nothing else could explain it. Think about it.
First, Michael Jackson's death pushes the Mark Sanford scandal off of the front pages and out of public view. For most of the time since we learned of his death it has been been non-stop Michael, all day, every day, every where; even in the political blogosphere.
Then, when the story of Michael Jackson finally begins to recede a little (not much, though, since it's probably still the top story on the entertainment driven main stream media channels), the strange and truly bizarre "resignation" announcement by Sarah Palin pushes Sanford even further out of sight and mind. Bizarre meets bizarre.
Now the talking heads from the main stream media and the pundits from the political blogosphere are trying to figure out exactly what the rambling Sarah said and why she said it and what she is actually going to do once she's out of office.
No one is talking about Mark Sanford any more. No one. This is one lucky guy.
